Somatic therapy is the key to reconnecting body, mind, and spirit that leads to deep healing and gratifying growth.
For far, far too long, too many of us have missed out on an incredible source of power that is always available to us. Always.
We were raised to prioritize our brains. Stuff your feelings. No pain, no gain. Ingredients for success, right? Wrong. Maybe it worked for our parents, (it actually didn’t, we know now) but these messages have led to disconnection, stress, and dis-ease in our bodies and our spirits.
Here’s the deal: our bodies are always talking to us and we’ve lost our capacity to listen. Unresolved emotional pain and mountains of stress accumulate and fossilize.
These relics interfere with our innate healing mechanisms blocking us from the physical and mental well-being each of us so very richly deserves.
This is where somatic therapy ABSOLUTELY SHINES in the health realm. It isn’t your typical talk therapy. It’s about learning to tune in to the immense well of wisdom that is your body. When we reforge the bond between your mind and body, that strength allows healing from the inside out.
Tune into your body — You’ll learn to recognize your physical sensations, what they mean, and you’ll learn how to provide the relief you need.
Release trauma — Trauma can get frozen in your body. This holds you back from completing a necessary stress cycle which leads to accumulated pain and overwhelm. Somatic therapy can help you release that tension and free your valuable energy for health and vitality.
Calm your nervous system — Stop feeling like you’re stuck in overdrive of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Somatic therapy can help reset your nervous system baseline so you can experience more ease, peace, and strength.
Be more present — It’s pretty fascinating how our bodies can hold onto the past without us being consciously aware of it. Free yourself from the shackles of old pain so you can focus on the here and now to savor the abundance that life offers us.
Our bodies are not just vessels — they’re maps, showing us where we’ve been and where we need to go.
While somatic therapy is not yoga, I have practiced yoga for about 30 years and it’s really informed why I’ve done a deep dive into somatic therapy as of late.
So many of us have been running around disembodied like the proverbial chickens with our heads cut off and we just don’t have to live our lives this way. I’ve experienced the relief that can come from reuniting my body and my mind and you can, too.
If any of this resonates with you on any level, that’s excellent! This is you listening to an inner calling, so good on you! Something in you longs to have your body and mind connection restored so you can access the healing and wisdom waiting just for you.
Please listen to what you’re being told and get the help you need. Restore yourself to your fullest glorious potential! Schedule your consultation today.
I came to Tracy to work through my anxiety and depression. She has not only taught me specific strategies to help me stay present and grounded when my anxiety seems to be out of control, but also daily management skills for my depression and anxiety.
She has taught me communication skills that I have been able to use with my loved ones to open up with them about my struggles. In being able to speak more openly with my loved ones, it allowed me to feel comfortable enough to bring my husband to some of my appointments. Those sessions helped us learn how to better understand each other’s needs more clearly.
The discussions we have are not always focused on present events; she has also helped me dig deeper to see where my anxiety and depression come from. Tracy has helped me recognize these sources and taught me that while these things happened to me, they don’t define me. Most importantly, she has taught me about seeing myself in a more positive light.
would happily refer Tracy to family, friends, or anyone looking for therapy services. Her compassion is second to none. You can feel that she truly cares about her patients and doesn’t just go through the motions. She is invested in helping her patients reach their best potential. Tracy has a great ability to connect with people and make them feel at ease when they talk with her. She is an exceptional therapist.
The time I’ve spent with Tracy has been transformative. I’ve had a handful of counselors through the years, and they all helped to some degree, yet I felt no different. I knew more about myself, but I didn’t feel different until I began working with Tracy.
To simply state my own journey, I’ve been looking to open a deeper emotional connection within myself and others. To stop being afraid and to reconcile the trauma and abuse I suffered in childhood. The progress I’ve made from being unable to mention or acknowledge what happened to being able to mention it here is proof of her amazing work. I would not be the person I am today without her, and I wonder if I would even be here to write this if not for her.
She’s exactly what her client needs when they need it. Whether that’s a by the book therapist one day to a friend to cry with the next, she adapts and innovates on the fly, only to the comfort level one can tolerate in the moment. What I do know is that I am always getting her best and the best care possible.
I could fill pages of praise, lines and lines of commendation, but the summary of it all would be that Tracy Douglas is a one in a million therapist. I wholeheartedly recommend Tracy with full confidence that she will help others with the same kindness and care she has provided not only to myself but countless others.

Somatic Therapy helps with the vital work of reconnecting with your body to heal from trauma and stress. The foundational principle is our amazing bodies with their incredible innate orientation towards safety and health hold onto emotions and experiences, especially significantly impactful ones.
In sessions, we’ll use various techniques like breathwork, movement, and mindfulness to help release tension and trauma stored in your body. When we tune you into your physical sensations, you strengthen your ability to process and release emotional pain. This isn’t just talk therapy—it’s a whole-body experience that helps you recover by tapping into your body’s wisdom. Ready to feel more grounded and alive? Let’s explore this together.
Somatic Therapy can be an absolute game-changer for anyone dealing with anxiety, trauma, PTSD, chronic stress, or even just feeling disconnected from their body, which many of us in our society reallllly struggle with whether you are aware of it or not, dear soul.
If you’ve ever felt like traditional therapy isn’t quite cutting it or if you want to try something that goes deeper than words, Somatic Therapy might be an excellent modality for you. It’s perfect for those who are ready to invite their body’s wisdom to the table and learn to release what’s been held there for too long. Isn’t it time to feel more at home in your own skin?
Expect a session that’s a bit different from your typical talk therapy. We’ll start by checking in and talking about what’s going on for you, but then we’ll shift focus to your body. You might be guided through gentle movements, breath exercises, or simply tuning into what sensations arise in your body.
We get to be curious about what comes up while encouraging judgement to suspend itself. This work creates a space where you can explore embodiment without pressure, and there’s no right or wrong way to feel. There simply is what is and we attend to it with loving care and honor no matter what “it” is.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, which primarily focuses on what’s happening in your head, Somatic Therapy brings the body into the conversation. It’s always whispering, talking or shouting anyway.
We’ve just learned to tune it out. So, in our work, we recognize the body stores emotions, memories, and trauma, and that healing often requires more than just talking. We use body-based techniques to release stored tension and trauma. As we integrate mind, body, and emotions, we co-create a more holistic path to healing.
If you’re ready for a different approach that digs deep into the holistic fabulousness that is you, Somatic Therapy might be what you’re looking for.
Absodamnlutely. In fact, Somatic Therapy is one of the most effective modalities for trauma because it focuses on how trauma is stored in the body. We often talk about how trauma isn’t just in your head—it’s in your body.
Somatic Therapy helps you safely release that sticky stored trauma and restore much needed senses of safety and calm. Please know, it’s a process and takes time, but many people find profound healing through this lovely work. You don’t have to carry that weight alone—let’s explore how we can lighten your load together.
Yes, indeedy! Anxiety and stress aren’t just mental experiences—they manifest in our bodies too, with sensations like tight muscles, shallow breathing, or a racing heart. Somatic Therapy helps you get in tune with these physical responses and learn how to calm them and release whatever you don’t need anymore.
Through practices like grounding and breathwork, you can learn to soothe your nervous system and find sweet relief from the physical symptoms of anxiety. I should qualify… sometimes, it doesn’t feel ‘sweet’ sometimes there’s a bit more hard before the ‘sweet’ because important responses are surfacing. Either way, we get to listen to your body’s signals and respond with compassion and care.
Imagine a life where stress and old pain doesn’t rule you—where you feel more in control, peaceful, and in harmony with your dynamic trio of body, mind, and spirit.
Somatic Therapy uses a wonderful variety of techniques to help you connect with your body and release stored tension. This can include breathwork, body awareness, grounding exercises, guided movement, and sometimes even touch (always, always with your consent and if you don’t give it, we just do a workaround version.)
The goal is to help you feel safe and supported as you explore what’s happening in your body. Every session is unique and tailored to what you need in the moment. Think of it as acquiring a helpful assortment of different ways to help you feel more embodied and at ease.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here because everyone’s journey is vastly different even as biological principles remain the same. Some people might feel significant relief after a few sessions, while others may find that ongoing support is necessary to deepen work and then maintain progress.
It really depends on what you’re dealing with and how deep you would want to go. We’ll figure out what makes sense for you, honoring what comes up when it comes up and being respectful of your window of tolerance. Remember, healing is a journey, not a race, and I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
Yes, Somatic Therapy is generally safe and beneficial for most people, but like any therapy, it’s important to go at a pace that feels right for you and it’s also very important to work with a skilled therapist who can read the signs of when you’re not working in a therapeutically beneficial window.
Someone who understands this will not push you beyond what feels comfortable and may provide encouraging nudges from time to time. It’s a highly collaborative process where we work together to ensure that you feel safe and supported at all times.
If something doesn’t feel right, we adjust. Your safety and comfort are the absolute top priority during out time together.
Look for a therapist who is trained specifically in Somatic Therapy or body-oriented approaches. Credentials can matter, but so does the therapist’s training, vibe, and approach.
Check out their website, read their bio, and see if their approach resonates with you. A good fit is key, so don’t be afraid to shop around and please do trust your instincts. If you’re curious and ready to start your journey, I’m here and happy to answer any questions you have.
